New Delhi — Trinamool Congress MP Sagarika Ghose has strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the inauguration of the Chenab Rail Bridge, accusing him of failing to acknowledge the leaders who played a pivotal role in initiating the project.
In a social media post, Ghose stated, "That Prime Minister Modi waved the flag at the inauguration of the Chenab Rail Bridge without a word for the hardworking public servants who came before him — Prime Ministers Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh, and most importantly Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee who actually sanctioned and laid the groundwork for the project — is so typically Modi. Delusional, narcissistic, self-promoting, and non-serious. This kind of jealous credit grabbing is unprecedented in India. Most unfortunate."
The Chenab Rail Bridge, which is now the highest railway bridge in the world, is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project. The project was conceptualised and advanced under multiple administrations and saw significant progress during the tenures of both the United Progressive Alliance and the National Democratic Alliance governments.
