During a major conference in Thane, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde highlighted the importance of Thane in the development of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Speaking about the ambitious vision, CM Shinde shared details of a recent meeting with B.V.R. Subrahmanyam from NITI Aayog, where they discussed the future potential of Mumbai and the surrounding MMR.
"For the first time, such a large conference is being held in Thane," Shinde said. "The Prime Minister has envisioned a significant role for Mumbai MMR, with an economic potential of 1.5 trillion."
He further stated that NITI Aayog has identified eight key sectors to focus on, and by leveraging these, the MMR region can achieve this substantial economic milestone. CM Shinde also emphasized the critical role Thane will play in this growth journey, remarking that "Thane holds great importance, and it all starts from here."
The vision aligns with ongoing efforts to transform the MMR into a major economic hub, with Thane being at the forefront of this development initiative.
