Hyderabad, Telangana: In the aftermath of the devastating Kurnool bus fire that claimed 21 lives and injured three staff members, Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Friday announced a series of immediate safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Addressing the media, Prabhakar said that the transport departments of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh would soon introduce legislation aimed at enhancing passenger safety and tightening oversight of private and public bus operations.

“The transport departments of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh will introduce legislation to prevent such incidents from recurring. We also order the transport authorities to seize any unfit buses to eliminate potential threats to life,” Prabhakar stated.

He assured that the Telangana government is closely monitoring the situation and providing “minute-by-minute updates” on the medical treatment of the injured. “The tragic incident has resulted in 21 deaths and injuries to three bus staff members. The Andhra Pradesh Minister and local officials are in contact and ensuring strict measures,” he added.
