By A Staff Reporter

Sangareddy, Telangana: At least eight people were killed and several others sustained serious injuries after a massive explosion ripped through Sigachi Chemical Industry in Pashamilaram, located in Telangana’s Sangareddy district on Monday. The blast, which occurred inside a unit of the pharmaceutical company, triggered a large fire and caused widespread panic in the industrial zone.

According to initial police reports, the force of the explosion was so intense that it hurled workers as far as 100 meters, with some landing in nearby temporary shelters and tents. Multiple workers were reportedly trapped as fire engulfed surrounding areas. Rescue operations are ongoing, with teams of firefighters and emergency personnel battling the flames and working to reach those still stuck inside the factory premises.

Local police have registered a case and initiated a probe into the cause of the explosion. While the exact trigger remains unclear, officials suspect it may have involved highly combustible chemical substances used in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Forensic and disaster response teams have also been called in for a detailed investigation.

Senior officials from the Telangana state government are expected to visit the site. Authorities have assured that injured workers are being shifted to nearby hospitals, and efforts are being made to ensure that all those affected receive immediate medical attention.

Eyewitnesses described a deafening boom followed by thick smoke rising from the plant. “The ground shook, and then we saw fire everywhere. Some workers were screaming and running out, while others couldn’t escape,” said a nearby resident.
