Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, while addressing the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI) in Delhi, outlined his government’s development priorities for Hyderabad, focusing on environmental sustainability and urban mobility.
Highlighting concerns over pollution, the Chief Minister said several industries located within Hyderabad’s urban core would be relocated to semi-urban areas. These designated manufacturing hubs, he noted, would allow industrial growth without compromising the city’s environmental health. The move is intended to strike a balance between economic development and the well-being of urban residents.
On urban infrastructure, Reddy emphasized the expansion of the city’s metro rail system. Currently, Hyderabad’s metro spans 70 kilometers and serves about five lakh commuters daily. “Over the next five years, our goal is to expand the network from 70 kilometers to 150 kilometers, ensuring last-mile connectivity across the city,” he said. The plan aims to ease traffic congestion, reduce pollution from road transport, and provide a reliable mass transit system for a rapidly growing population.
