Hyderabad, Telangana: State BJP President Ramchander Rao on Saturday sharply criticised communist parties and several civil liberties organisations for protesting against the recent encounter involving left-wing extremists. Rao questioned what he described as selective outrage, accusing these groups of ignoring past violence carried out by Naxalite outfits.

“It’s very unfortunate that communist parties and some civil liberties organisations are protesting against the encounter of left-wing extremists,” Rao said. He alleged that these groups have consistently failed to condemn attacks on members of right-leaning organisations. “Why didn’t they condemn the killings of ABVP, BJP, or RSS workers? Why didn’t they condemn and express sympathy for those killed in landmine blasts carried out by Naxalites?” he asked.

Rao argued that the security forces are taking necessary action to protect citizens from extremist violence and said criticism of the encounter undermines the morale of personnel working in difficult conditions. He claimed that the current protests were politically motivated and aimed at creating unnecessary controversy. “Now they’re staging all this drama,” he added.
