Bengaluru: BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has strongly criticized the recent fare hike by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), calling it “unscientific and insensitive” and questioning the rationale behind the increase.

Speaking on the matter, Surya said, “The hike in Bengaluru Metro fares is not just unscientific and insensitive but also based on wrong mathematics. Even a high school student would do better calculations than BMRCL. They have no justification for such a hike and should address these errors immediately.”

The MP’s comments come amid widespread public dissatisfaction over rising metro fares, which commuters argue disproportionately affect daily passengers and low-income groups who rely on metro services for work and education. Surya’s criticism points to perceived flaws in the methodology used by BMRCL to calculate the fare revisions.
