New Delhi, August 4: Responding to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's allegation that his name had been removed from the electoral roll, JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha dismissed the claim as misleading. Jha stated that upon verification by the Election Commission (EC), it was found that Yadav’s name not only existed on the voter list but was also duplicated, appearing in two separate locations.
“He (Tejashwi Yadav) held a press conference and claimed that his name had been removed from the voter list. But when the Election Commission checked, it turned out that not only his name was there, but it appeared in two places,” Jha said. He asserted that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process is precisely aimed at addressing such duplications to maintain the integrity of the voter database.
Jha defended the SIR exercise, emphasizing that it is a routine procedure intended to clean electoral rolls of ineligible or duplicate entries. “The sole purpose of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is to clean such duplications from the voter list, that’s exactly what is being done,” he added.
The JD(U) leader accused opposition parties of creating unnecessary controversies around a process designed to ensure electoral transparency and fairness. “Making baseless allegations without verifying facts only creates confusion among the public,” he said, urging political leaders to cooperate with the Election Commission’s efforts.
