New Delhi — In a sharp political rebuttal, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Friday accused the Congress party of deliberately avoiding the ongoing Parliament session to escape accountability for its historical misdeeds. His remarks came in response to a statement made by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, further intensifying the political clash between the BJP and the INDIA bloc.
“There is clearly a reason why Congress is avoiding the Parliament session,” Chugh asserted. “They are afraid that their past actions, such as their expressions of sympathy and love for Pakistan, will come under scrutiny.”
Chugh went on to invoke the 1975 Emergency declared by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, a period widely criticized for its suspension of democratic processes and civil liberties. “They fear being exposed if the Emergency of 1975 is discussed in Parliament, because it would remind the entire nation of their dictatorship and the undemocratic methods they used to stifle democracy,” he said.
He further alleged that the INDIA bloc leaders are "running away" because they know this session could highlight "the darker chapters of their rule — chapters where democracy was murdered under their watch."
