New Delhi: BJP leader and former Union Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Tuesday strongly defended the Bihar Police’s recent encounter of criminal Vikas alias Raja, following the murder of businessman Gopal Khemka. He also took a sharp dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for calling Bihar a “crime capital.”

“After Gopal Khemka’s murder, police have taken strict action. Encounters and arrests have occurred, and the message has been sent that this government enforces a zero-tolerance policy against crime,” said Hussain.

He contrasted the current administration’s crackdown on criminals with what he termed the "Jungle Raj" of earlier governments. “This government lacks coordination with criminals, unlike Jungle Raj when criminals and the government collaborated. Crime perpetrators will be arrested and executed with no mercy,” he added.

Hussain also condemned Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks in which the Congress leader criticized the law and order situation in Bihar. “It’s unfortunate that Rahul Gandhi referred to the entire state of Bihar as a crime capital. This kind of language undermines the efforts of Bihar Police, who are actively eliminating criminals,” he said.
