KOLKATA: Leader of Opposition (LoP) in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, launched a fresh attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, alleging that the state's police force lacks independence and operates under political pressure.
“The police in the state have no spine. Everything is controlled by Mamata Banerjee,” Adhikari said, accusing the administration of shielding criminals and suppressing opposition voices. He asserted that once the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power in West Bengal, it will take decisive action against what he called “notorious goons” operating under TMC’s patronage.
Adhikari’s remarks come amid rising political tensions in the state, with frequent clashes between BJP and TMC workers. His statement follows his recent suspension from the West Bengal Assembly, a move he dismissed as an attempt to silence him. “We will continue to raise our voices for the rights of the people even after being suspended from the State Assembly,” he declared.
