Bengaluru: Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala, during the inauguration of the Kalasavalli–Ambargondlu Bridge in Karnataka, launched a sharp criticism against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of consistently disrespecting the state and its people.

Speaking at the event, Surjewala said, “Insulting the people of Karnataka and Kannadigas has become a habit of the BJP. This is not just an insult to the Chief Minister of Karnataka, but to the seven crore people of the state.”

He alleged that the BJP-led central government treats Karnataka as a “money-making machine,” citing perceived fiscal imbalances. “They take one rupee from us in GST and return only 13 paise,” he claimed. Surjewala also pointed to stalled infrastructure and irrigation projects, accusing the Centre of withholding ₹5,300 crore for the Upper Bhadra project and delaying clearances related to the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal.
