New Delhi: Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat defended party leader Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks in Parliament, highlighting two key issues that Gandhi raised—caste dominance in previous systems and the growing concentration of power in monopolies.
Speaking to the media, Bhagat emphasized the significance of Gandhi’s speech, which pointed out the historical domination of political and social systems by caste structures. “He (Rahul Gandhi) highlighted two symbolic aspects in Parliament. First, how earlier systems were dominated by caste structures. Second, he spoke about monopolies and how will things progress if they will hand over everything to a particular person?” Bhagat said.
Gandhi’s comments in Parliament have sparked intense political debate, particularly his critique of caste-based hierarchies and the unchecked rise of monopolistic powers in India’s economy. Bhagat echoed Gandhi's concerns, stressing that India's progress would be stunted if power continued to be concentrated in the hands of a few individuals or corporate entities, at the expense of the broader public.
The Congress leader’s remarks on monopolies were seen as a critique of the growing influence of large corporations and the potential harm they pose to fair competition and economic justice. Bhagat further underlined the importance of addressing these structural inequalities, which, according to him, hinder inclusive growth and social equity.
This latest exchange comes as part of the ongoing discussions within Parliament on various socio-political and economic issues, with Congress continuing to push for reforms that promote fairness, diversity, and transparency in governance.
