New Delhi: Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar has responded strongly to the ongoing controversy surrounding Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, accusing Congress of distorting the issue. Majumdar stated that the opposition party was deliberately amplifying a non-issue to divert attention from more pressing matters.
“The statement was tampered by Congress, and they are transforming a non-issue into an issue. Why? Because they don’t have anything to discuss,” Majumdar said. He emphasized that the BJP was open to a discussion on the Constitution, a matter that his party had welcomed and facilitated in Parliament.
The remarks come amid a heated exchange between the BJP and Congress, with the latter criticizing Shah’s statements on Dr. Ambedkar. The controversy over Shah’s comments has sparked fierce debates, with Congress accusing the BJP of misrepresenting Ambedkar’s legacy.
Majumdar, however, defended his party’s position, highlighting that the BJP had shown a willingness to engage in constructive dialogue on important constitutional issues. He also downplayed the row, framing it as an attempt by Congress to create unnecessary tensions.
The war of words between the two parties is likely to intensify as the controversy continues to unfold, with both sides firm in their positions.
