Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh: Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad on Monday claimed that RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav would have secured the Chief Minister’s post in Bihar had the “public votes not been robbed.” Speaking to reporters in Ayodhya, Prasad reiterated the opposition’s allegations that the Mahagathbandhan was denied victory due to electoral malpractice.
Prasad said the Mahagathbandhan had unanimously nominated Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial face, reflecting the alliance’s confidence in his leadership. He described Tejashwi as a “popular leader” who enjoys the trust of a large section of Bihar’s electorate. “Tejashwi Yadav from the Mahagathbandhan was nominated for the Chief Ministerial post… Tejashwi Yadav is a popular leader and has the trust of the people,” he said.
Contrasting this with the BJP, Prasad alleged that the ruling party was plagued by internal conflicts. “On the other hand, there is the BJP; you cannot imagine how much internal fighting there is in it,” he claimed, suggesting that the party lacked cohesion even as it celebrated the election outcome.
The SP MP asserted that the alleged manipulation of votes changed the natural outcome of the election. “If there had been no robbery of public votes, then definitely the Mahagathbandhan candidate Tejashwi Yadav would have become the Chief Minister of Bihar,” he said.
