Ayodhya: Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad on Saturday levelled sharp allegations against the NDA following its sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, claiming the mandate was secured through large-scale misuse of government resources. Speaking in Ayodhya, Prasad said the election result was the product of a “blatant breach of democratic principles.”

“Democracy was bought on a grand scale in the Bihar elections,” he said, alleging that soon after the model code of conduct was enforced, the government transferred ₹10,000 each into the accounts of women across the state. According to him, the timing and scale of these transfers violated the neutrality expected during an election period and influenced the outcome.

Prasad argued that such actions undermined the fairness of the democratic process. “This was a blatant breach of democracy and the principles of the model code of conduct by the government,” he said, accusing authorities of exploiting welfare schemes for electoral gains.

The SP leader also criticised the Election Commission, claiming it played a “crucial role” in enabling the situation. “The Election Commission contributed to this result,” he alleged, echoing concerns voiced by several opposition parties questioning the legitimacy of the mandate.
