Bareilly: A delegation of Samajwadi Party (SP) workers led by District President Shivcharan was detained by the police today as they attempted to visit Sambhal. The situation unfolded after SP workers, under Shivcharan’s supervision, were stopped by law enforcement officials en route.
Speaking about the incident, Circle Officer (CO) Pankaj Singh said, "Today, Samajwadi Party workers tried to go to Sambhal under the supervision of party District President Shivcharan. Police stopped them from going, but when they did not agree, they were taken into custody."
The police intervention is believed to be a preventive measure aimed at maintaining law and order in the region. Sources indicate that tensions have been high in Sambhal, prompting authorities to enforce restrictions on political gatherings or movements that could escalate the situation.
The detained SP workers were escorted to a nearby facility, with police assuring that the situation is under control. The authorities emphasized their commitment to maintaining peace and urged political leaders to cooperate with law enforcement directives.
In response to the detainment, the Samajwadi Party has criticized the move, calling it an infringement on their democratic rights. Party representatives have demanded the immediate release of their workers and accused the administration of suppressing their voice.
The incident has drawn attention from various quarters, with calls for dialogue between political parties and authorities to address underlying issues peacefully. Further developments are awaited as the situation unfolds.
