Ludhiana, Punjab: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday highlighted the benefits of using smart seeder technology, saying it can significantly reduce farming costs and enhance soil health by recycling stubble into nutrients.

Addressing farmers in Ludhiana, Chouhan said, “This smart seeder has improved ploughing, saving you ₹3,500 in ploughing costs. The stubble will retain moisture, saving you money on water. If you mix stubble into the fields, it will serve as a source of nitrogen for the soil, which will then result in less urea being used.”

The minister emphasized that adopting sustainable agricultural practices like smart seeding could help Punjab farmers address both environmental and economic challenges, especially those related to stubble burning and excessive fertilizer use.
