Delhi: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched a scathing attack on Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, questioning her recent use of a bag marked "Bangladesh" and linking it to Congress’s opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Speaking to reporters, Chouhan accused the Congress of indulging in hypocrisy and political theatrics for electoral gains.
"Then why were they opposing the CAA? Why did they not remember the (Bangladeshi) minorities then?" Chouhan asked, pointing out Congress’s contradictory stance on the plight of minorities from Bangladesh. "It is the Congress's nature to do drama for political gains. They say something and do something else. But the people understand the truth," he added.
Chouhan reiterated that the BJP remains committed to protecting minority communities from neighboring countries under the CAA and accused Congress of opposing the legislation for vote-bank politics
The remarks come amid heightened political tension, with both parties trading barbs over various issues in the lead-up to key elections. Chouhan’s statement is the latest in a series of BJP criticisms aimed at Congress, accusing them of inconsistencies and lack of a clear policy vision.
