Guwahati, Assam: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday commended Assam’s efforts in economic empowerment, highlighting the success of the "Lakhpati Didis" initiative. Speaking at a public event, Chouhan applauded the state government’s focus on enhancing women’s incomes and livelihoods.
“Today we felicitated women whose annual income has crossed Rs 10 lakh. The Assam government is steadfast in its commitment to creating more ‘Lakhpati Didis,’ ensuring financial independence for women,” Chouhan said, adding that the initiative represents a significant step toward achieving socio-economic equity in the state.
In addition to lauding women entrepreneurs, Chouhan announced the approval of 3.88 lakh new homes for Assam under the central housing schemes. This move, he stated, is part of the government’s broader aim to improve living conditions and provide stable housing for all.
“Our government will continue to work for the welfare of Assam’s farmers and the people at large. We are determined to support initiatives that uplift rural communities and promote self-sufficiency,” he affirmed.
