Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader and spokesperson Shaina NC welcomed the extradition of Tahawwur Hussain Rana to India from the United States, calling it a major victory for the victims and families affected by the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
“As a Mumbaikar, this is a great victory for everyone who has suffered 26/11,” Shaina said, expressing deep emotion and relief over the development. “Tahawwur Rana being extradited is the outcome of the persistent and sustained efforts of PM Modi since 2019,” she added, crediting the government’s diplomatic and legal resolve.
Rana, a Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman, is accused of playing a key role in facilitating the 2008 Mumbai attacks, which left over 170 people dead and hundreds injured. His extradition marks a major step forward in India's long-standing efforts to bring all perpetrators of the attack to justice.
“We know that the diplomatic note that has been sent to the US; this is probably the first time ever that somebody is being extradited,” Shaina noted, underlining the significance of the legal move.
Emphasizing the need for accountability, she concluded, “As a Mumbaikar what would I want? I would want him to be hanged till death.”
