Shiv Sena (UBT) Member of Parliament Priyanka Chaturvedi expressed mixed reactions to the Union Budget 2025, acknowledging certain positive aspects but emphasizing that the budget did not live up to the expectations of many sectors. In a statement, Chaturvedi noted that the budget had provided some relief that the middle class had been advocating for, marking a small victory for the voices raised by citizens, including herself and her party. However, she pointed out that the overall provisions did not fully meet the needs of all segments of society.
Chaturvedi particularly highlighted the continuing struggles of farmers, who are still protesting for a fair minimum support price (MSP). Despite some changes in procurement policies, the issue remains unresolved, leaving the agricultural community disillusioned. She also raised concerns about the economic difficulties faced by women, citing high inflation and job losses, alongside the lack of opportunities for the youth. These pressing challenges, according to Chaturvedi, have not been adequately addressed in the budget.
