Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey weighed in on the controversy surrounding allegations of cash distribution by BJP leader Vinod Tawde. The allegations, which emerged on November 19, were initially made by two Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) leaders, accusing Tawde of distributing money at a hotel.
Dubey pointed out that these claims were widely reported on television and subsequently drew reactions from Congress and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders. He addressed Tawde’s intention to pursue defamation charges against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, calling the move misplaced.
"If Tawde wants to file defamation charges against Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, he can do so under the law, and the matter will be handled in court. However, if he truly wants to hold someone accountable, his case should be directed at Hitender Thakur and Jagdish Thakur of the BVA, who were once his allies," Dubey said.
Highlighting the sequence of events, Dubey emphasized that Kharge and Gandhi had merely reacted to the allegations that had already been made public. He added, "It’s quite funny that instead of addressing the source of the accusations, Tawde is targeting those who responded to them."
The controversy has sparked a political blame game, with Dubey’s remarks adding fuel to the ongoing tensions. The spotlight now turns to whether Tawde will proceed with legal action and, if so, against whom. This incident underscores the contentious nature of political discourse in Maharashtra, where accusations and counter-accusations have become commonplace.
