By A Staff Reporter — As Maharashtra prepares for the 2024 Assembly elections, Shiv Sena leader Milind Deora addressed what he called misleading narratives that circulated during the previous Lok Sabha elections. Speaking at a recent rally, Deora asserted that certain factions had promoted "fake narratives" suggesting that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi retained power, he would abolish elections and change the Constitution. These claims, he argued, misled voters initially but have since been thoroughly debunked.

"I would say that there is a huge difference between what happened in the Lok Sabha elections and the Assembly polls," Deora stated. "In the Lok Sabha, there was a massive, fake narrative spread against the government and Mahayuti, insinuating that Modi ji would change the Constitution or halt elections if re-elected." Six months into Modi’s continued leadership, Deora argued, it has become clear to the public that these predictions were unfounded.

Deora also referenced the recent Haryana elections, in which the ruling coalition's victory further "debunked" the negative rhetoric spread against Modi's government. He suggested that the positive outcome in Haryana indicated voters are now more discerning, judging candidates based on developmental goals rather than scare tactics.

Confident in a "cleaner" campaign environment, Deora said the focus in Maharashtra should now be on growth and progress. "I believe that the focus of this election will be development and who genuinely wants to take Maharashtra forward," he stated, emphasizing his view that the Mahayuti coalition is best positioned to deliver on promises of economic and infrastructural advancement.

In conclusion, Deora expressed optimism for a decisive shift away from misinformation, urging voters to consider candidates based on tangible progress and Maharashtra’s future. This focus, he suggested, could lead to informed voting decisions that prioritize the state's development and stability over politically motivated narratives.
