The political firestorm over Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi’s comments on the 2019 surgical strikes intensified as BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla launched a blistering attack, accusing the Congress of undermining the morale of the armed forces.
Reacting to Channi's demand for proof of the surgical strikes conducted after the Pulwama terror attack, Poonawalla said, “INC (Indian National Congress) should change its name to ANC — Anti National Congress.” He contrasted Channi’s statement with the party's recent stance during the all-party meeting on the Pahalgam terror attack, where Congress expressed solidarity with the government and demanded strict action against terrorists.
“Now, the party leader is hurting the morale of the Army under the directions of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi,” Poonawalla alleged, suggesting a pattern of doublespeak and political opportunism within the Congress ranks.
