New Delhi — In a sharp political attack, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Tuesday accused the Congress party of echoing the language of Pakistan’s military establishment, in response to remarks made by Congress leaders Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Vijay Wadettiwar regarding recent drone threats.

Speaking to the press in Delhi, Poonawalla likened Congress’s rhetoric to that of Pakistan’s military media wing, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR). “The incoming drones sent by Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Vijay Wadettiwar make it seem that the Congress party is behaving more like DG ISPR,” he said.

He further claimed that the Congress party appears to be creating “content for Pakistan” in the absence of Pakistani influencers and YouTubers, who have been restricted in India. “Why don’t they tell the world what big moves they made after 26/11?” he questioned, referring to the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

“The insult of our armed forces has become the Congress party’s identity,” Poonawalla said, adding in Hindi, “Sena ka apmaan, yahi Congress party ki ban chuki hai pehchan; maano Congress aur Pakistan do shareer ek jaan.”
