New Delhi: BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala on Friday reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s firm resolve to punish those behind the Pahalgam terror attack and came down heavily on opposition leaders for what he called a "cover-up" of terror narratives. Speaking on the ongoing national outrage following the attack, Poonawala accused some political figures of putting vote bank politics above national interest.
“Prime Minister Modi has extended condolences to the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack on behalf of the entire nation,” said Poonawala. “He has also given a brief on how to fight against this terror attack, stating that the supporters of terrorism shall not be spared and surely be punished.”
Poonawala emphasized that the Prime Minister's message was clear: India will neither tolerate terrorism nor the external support systems that sustain it. “Any external support or patronage provided to terrorism shall be disgraced,” he added.
In a sharply worded attack on opposition figures, Poonawala alleged that Robert Vadra and Anil Deshmukh had tried to deflect blame away from Pakistan and instead targeted Hindus. “They have given a clean chit to Pakistan and have tagged Hindus as the culprit. They have covered up issues like Islamic jihad. They are only concerned about their votes and not the nation,” he claimed.
