BJP leader Shazia Ilmi recently criticized the Jharkhand government, accusing it of prioritizing vote bank politics over national interests by allegedly allowing land and resources meant for Indian citizens to be accessed by foreign infiltrators. Speaking in Delhi, Ilmi referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “roti, beti aur maati” (livelihood, daughters, and soil), which she claimed represents a commitment to the nation’s welfare and security.

“Just to appease a particular vote bank, people from across the border are being brought to Jharkhand, and land that rightfully belongs to Indians is being handed over to these infiltrators,” Ilmi argued. She expressed concern that this policy compromises Jharkhand’s integrity, asserting that the public in the state is looking for a change and supports the vision PM Modi has set forth.

Ilmi’s comments underscored the BJP’s stance on regional governance in Jharkhand, with a focus on what the party describes as the need for responsible and security-conscious development. “Jharkhand needs development,” she said. “The public of Jharkhand wants change and they believe in ‘Modi ki guarantee.’”

According to Ilmi, PM Modi’s approach to governance emphasizes an inclusive, security-oriented approach that balances social welfare with national integrity. She suggested that the people of Jharkhand are increasingly disillusioned with policies that, in her view, prioritize narrow political interests over long-term growth and security.

In making these statements, Ilmi aligned herself with broader BJP rhetoric, which often accuses opposition parties of divisive politics at the expense of national unity. Her remarks are part of an ongoing BJP campaign aimed at presenting itself as the party of national development and security, setting the stage for electoral battles in Jharkhand and other states where governance and regional issues are becoming focal points for voters.
