DELHI: Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament Shatrughan Sinha has expressed deep concern regarding the ongoing situation in Bangladesh, calling it a sensitive and pressing humanitarian crisis. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Sinha acknowledged the complexity of the issue, which he termed an internal matter for Bangladesh, but emphasized its broader implications.
“I am worried. It’s a sensitive situation, and whatever is happening is an internal issue of Bangladesh, we can say that, but it is a humanitarian crisis,” said Sinha.
He further remarked on the actions being taken by the Indian government, noting the active involvement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and other government officials. “I think PM Modi, EAM S Jaishankar, and other people in the government – they are worried – meetings are being done,” he said, pointing out the government’s ongoing efforts to address the crisis.
Sinha stressed the importance of a measured and cautious approach. “We need to take every step cautiously, and we need to be with the government on this international issue,” he added.
The comments reflect growing concerns in India about the potential fallout of the Bangladesh crisis, especially given the country’s historical ties and geographical proximity. As the situation continues to evolve, Sinha’s remarks underline the necessity for a unified and cautious diplomatic response from India.
Political leaders from various parties have urged the government to carefully navigate this sensitive issue, balancing humanitarian concerns with national interests.
