Siliguri, West Bengal: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia sharply criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, accusing it of failing to ensure women's safety under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's leadership. Scindia expressed concern over the deteriorating conditions for women in the state, claiming that West Bengal has become a place of fear and violence for its female residents.
"In our scriptures, it is written that where women are worshipped, god lives there. Sadly, an environment of terror, fear, and violence has been created in West Bengal under the rule of TMC's CM," Scindia remarked. He went on to highlight instances of exploitation and violence against women, including murders, which he said have become all too common in the state.
The Union Minister questioned the relevance of a government led by a woman if it cannot protect women from harm. "Today, no one is safe in West Bengal. What is the relevance of such a government, under the leadership of a woman CM, if women are not safe here?" he asked.
Scindia's remarks reflect growing concerns about the law and order situation in West Bengal, particularly regarding the safety of women under the current state administration.
