New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of attempting to dismantle the core constitutional values of secularism and socialism while branding the move as dangerous for India’s democratic identity.

Addressing the media, Singh said, “Either they (BJP) are politically ignorant or they deliberately lie. The BJP’s own party constitution mentions the words secularism and socialism. It also states faith in the Constitution—something every political party is bound to uphold.”

His remarks came amid rising speculation over the BJP’s alleged intent to revise or dilute references to secularism and socialism in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution—a move that has drawn widespread criticism from opposition parties and legal experts.

Singh further alleged that BJP's real agenda was to create division and inequality. “A party that publicly commits to constitutional values now wants to erase them. They want disparity, not equality. Their vision is to make India resemble Pakistan, not a pluralistic democracy,” he said.
