Sanjay Raut
By A Staff Reporter
Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut reacted to the Supreme Court’s dismissal of a plea alleging discrepancies in the 2024 Maharashtra elections, asserting that his party and the opposition would continue to raise concerns about electoral integrity.
Raut maintained that the court’s ruling did not signal an end to the opposition’s efforts, adding that issues of alleged irregularities remained unresolved. He argued that questions about the transparency of polling in Maharashtra persisted and that similar concerns had also been raised in states like Bihar.
The Shiv Sena leader reiterated his demand for the release of CCTV footage from polling stations, which he said could clarify doubts about voter turnout and procedures. He alleged that the manner in which voters were registered and managed during the elections left scope for manipulation and undermined confidence in the process.
While the Supreme Court’s decision effectively ended the legal challenge, Raut framed the issue as part of a larger political struggle to safeguard democracy and ensure fair elections. He said the opposition would continue to highlight what it perceives as lapses in the conduct of polls, regardless of the judicial outcome.
