Delhi: Senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Thursday clarified his party’s stance on the chief ministerial face issue in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, saying that the Congress traditionally does not announce a CM candidate before the results are declared.
“In the Congress party, we never announce a chief ministerial candidate in advance; the decision is made only after the final results are announced,” Dikshit said while addressing media questions on the Mahagathbandhan’s leadership plans.
He praised Tejashwi Yadav, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and key face of the alliance, describing him as “one of Bihar’s most prominent leaders.” Dikshit also acknowledged that Congress plays a junior partner’s role in the state’s coalition politics.
Turning his criticism toward the BJP and the NDA, Dikshit accused them of attempting to divert attention from their governance record. “BJP, NDA are attempting to downplay our role because they have achieved nothing — their record is zero — and they are therefore targeting us,” he said.
