NEW DELHI – Congress candidate from the New Delhi constituency, Sandeep Dikshit, has expressed confidence in the party’s prospects of reclaiming the seat in the upcoming elections. Speaking to the media, Dikshit emphasized the historical importance of the constituency for Congress and claimed that the public's dissatisfaction with Arvind Kejriwal’s governance is driving support back to his party.
“This area is very important for Congress. People of this constituency used to vote for Congress always,” Dikshit remarked. He acknowledged the setback faced by the party in 2013 when AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal gained a lead in the constituency but suggested that voter sentiment has shifted.
“Due to some reasons in 2013, Arvind Kejriwal got a lead from here. He made promises, but people are unhappy with him,” Dikshit stated.
He further highlighted the positive response his campaign is receiving from the public, adding, “We are receiving the blessings of people, and I hope they will also vote for us.”
The New Delhi constituency, which has been a battleground for political heavyweights, is expected to witness a fierce contest in the upcoming elections. Dikshit’s comments come amidst a series of campaigns by Congress to strengthen its base in the capital.
