New Delhi | BJP MP Sambit Patra launched a scathing attack on Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his recent speech in Parliament, accusing him of undermining India’s global standing and displaying a colonial mindset.
Responding to Gandhi’s comments, Patra remarked, "I want to tell Rahul Gandhi that coronation happens only in the Gandhi family. Donald Trump had his swearing-in ceremony, where foreign ministers of QUAD nations were invited. The way you tried to belittle India, such an inferiority complex towards one's own nation is not right."
Patra’s remarks come amid a heated political battle, with the BJP countering Gandhi’s critiques of the government’s foreign and domestic policies. He also defended PM Modi’s electoral reforms, particularly regarding the appointment of the Election Commissioner. "Till 2014, only the Prime Minister appointed the Election Commissioner. It is PM Modi who included the Leader of Opposition in this process," Patra asserted.
