In a recent address, Sajad Lone, President of the People's Conference, confronted his past electoral defeat and the campaign that played a significant role in it. Speaking to supporters in Kupwara, Lone reflected on the criticisms he faced during the last election, where he was labeled as being aligned with the BJP.

“…I would like to tell the people that you rejected me in the last election. A campaign was run against me that this person is from BJP,” Lone stated. He pointed out that, in retrospect, the true affiliations of his critics have become evident. “Today the world knows who is from BJP, those who used to point fingers at me, today they should answer the people,” he asserted.

Lone’s remarks were aimed at shifting the focus of the upcoming elections from party politics to tangible achievements and development. He urged voters to base their decisions on the work and progress delivered rather than on partisan propaganda. “I want to tell the people to vote for your work, your development,” Lone emphasized, encouraging a more constructive evaluation of political candidates and their contributions to the region.

His comments reflect a strategic shift towards emphasizing personal and developmental credentials over party affiliations, aiming to appeal to voters' desire for practical results and integrity in leadership. As the political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir continues to evolve, Lone’s statements highlight ongoing efforts to reshape public perception and address electoral challenges.
