Kochi, Kerala: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat reiterated the importance of preserving the nation’s traditional name, stating that “Bharat” should not be translated or altered in any context. Speaking at an event in Kochi, Bhagwat said, “‘Bharat’ is a proper noun. It should not be translated. ‘India that is Bharat’ is true. But Bharat is Bharat, and that is why, while writing and speaking, we should keep Bharat as Bharat.”
Emphasizing cultural and historical identity, he added, “Bharat must remain Bharat. The identity of Bharat is respected because it is Bharat. If you lose your identity, whatever other meritorious qualities you may have, you will never be respected or secure in this world. That is the thumb rule.”
Bhagwat’s remarks come amid ongoing debates around the usage of ‘India’ versus ‘Bharat’ in official and international discourse. His statement underscores the RSS stance on retaining the traditional name as a symbol of heritage and national pride.
