By A Staff Reporter — Pune, Maharashtra: In a recent statement ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, NCP-SCP candidate from Karjat-Jamkhed Assembly seat, Rohit Pawar, dismissed any direct competition between Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) but pointed out internal discord within the Mahayuti alliance. He highlighted a "pretty tough competition" between the BJP, Shiv Sena, and the NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar, suggesting that infighting could hurt the Mahayuti coalition's chances.
"We believe we will secure between 167 and 170 seats," Pawar said, expressing confidence in his party’s prospects. He explained that their approach involved directly engaging with the people, and the response they received mirrored the environment of the recent Lok Sabha elections, which appeared to be favoring the NCP-SCP alliance.
Pawar also criticized the lack of significant development in Maharashtra, comparing it unfavorably to Gujarat. “If you look at the development, not much has been achieved in Maharashtra. Ten years ago, Maharashtra was the number one state in terms of development, but now we have slipped to the 10th position, which is not good,” Pawar lamented. He emphasized that his campaign was centered on restoring Maharashtra’s growth and addressing the grievances of the people.
His remarks come as the election race intensifies, with both sides seeking to capitalize on the public’s dissatisfaction with the current government’s performance. Pawar’s prediction of a strong showing for NCP-SCP aims to consolidate the opposition's position as they prepare for a critical electoral contest.
