Delhi | Amid ongoing political realignments ahead of key elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha clarified the nature of the party’s recent meeting with the Congress, stressing that the discussions were preliminary and not centered on seat-sharing arrangements.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Jha stated, “The first meeting has a separate goal — that we will contest together, and for that, we will see the winnability factor. The meeting was not about seat sharing.” His comments come amid speculation regarding alliance formations and constituency divisions between opposition parties in various states.
Jha’s remarks reflect a broader strategy among opposition parties to build consensus and cohesion before delving into granular negotiations. The emphasis, he noted, was on identifying strong, viable candidates rather than rushing into seat distribution talks prematurely.
In a separate comment, Jha welcomed the Supreme Court’s recent observations regarding the Centre’s Waqf (Amendment) Act. “I am happy that the Supreme Court also raised the questions that we raised in the House — be it the Waqf-by-user issue or the denotification,” he said.
