Delhi: RJD MP Manoj Jha has expressed his concern over the treatment of farmers during their ongoing protests, criticizing the central government's actions as contradictory to its words. In a statement, Jha referred to Prime Minister Modi's frequent assertions that farmers are in his heart, and noted that the Union Agriculture Minister had made positive remarks about farmers in Parliament just yesterday in response to his question.
However, Jha pointed out the stark contrast between these statements and the reality faced by farmers, mentioning incidents where tear gas and lathi charges were used against them. “There is a lot of difference between their words and reality. Sometimes tear gas, sometimes lathi charge is done. They (farmers) do not deserve this," said Jha.
He emphasized that farmers should not be silenced, asking, “Who stops them from talking?” Jha urged the central government to engage in meaningful dialogue with farmers and consider their demands. “They (the central government) should talk to the farmers and accept their demands,” he added.
The ongoing protests have sparked widespread criticism of the government's handling of farmer grievances, with Jha calling for a peaceful resolution and fair treatment for the agricultural community.
