Delhi: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday said that the Special Summary Revision (SIR) is not a matter of controversy and claimed that many Congress leaders privately acknowledge that Rahul Gandhi’s position on the issue contributed to the party’s recent electoral setbacks. Speaking to reporters, Rijiju asserted that the SIR process is widely supported as it ensures fairness for genuine voters.

“SIR is not an issue and the majority of the Congress leaders are saying that by raising the issue of SIR, Rahul Gandhi led to the debacle of the Congress party,” he said. Rijiju added that the revision is essential for maintaining accurate voter rolls. “Everyone wants SIR as it is for the benefit of the genuine voters,” he noted.

Responding to Robert Vadra’s comments on the Congress’s poor performance in the Bihar elections, Rijiju said the party should take responsibility instead of deflecting blame. “They should accept their defeat and there should be humility,” he remarked.
