Nagpur, Maharashtra — Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has emphasised the need to cut imports and enhance exports as a key step towards making India a global leader.
Speaking at the Annual Prestigious Oration Program in memory of the late Dr. Prof. V.G. Bhidel, Gadkari said, “One important thing today is to reduce the country’s imports and increase exports; this is necessary if we are to become a global leader.”
He urged the country’s premier research institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), to align their work with the nation’s specific needs. “Our research organisations… must focus on studying and examining what is needed in our country, as that kind of research is essential,” he said.
