Delhi: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday responded to the ongoing ‘Bihar Bandh’ led by the Mahagathbandhan, accusing the opposition of politicising the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar and raising concerns about the alleged inclusion of illegal immigrants.
Speaking to the media in Delhi, Prasad questioned the motives behind the opposition’s protest. “Does the opposition want the inclusion of infiltrators and others in the voter list? Is it not true that Rohingyas get their names registered in the voter list?” he asked. He further alleged that opposition parties are attempting to use such “illicit voters” for political advantage, adding, “This approach of theirs raises serious questions.”
Prasad also pointed out that legal remedies are available. “Fight in the Supreme Court… Or is this some sort of pressure sought to be created?” he said, referring to the street protests.
