New Delhi: Union Minister Ramdas Athawale recently weighed in on the leadership impasse in Maharashtra, where the BJP and Eknath Shinde's faction have been in disagreement over the state's Chief Minister position.
"The BJP urges that Devendra Fadnavis should become the CM. However, Eknath Shinde’s people say that Eknath Shinde has done good work and he should become the CM. This is the reason behind the deadlock," Athawale explained while responding to a media query regarding the issue.
Athawale suggested a possible resolution, stating, "I believe that if Devendra Fadnavis would become the CM, then Eknath Shinde should be given a ministerial berth at the Centre." This, he noted, could help resolve the deadlock while recognizing the contributions of both leaders.
The debate over who should lead Maharashtra has caused significant tension within the state's ruling alliance. Athawale’s comments reflect the complexities involved in balancing regional and national aspirations within the coalition.
