New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said India is on course to becoming the world’s third-largest economy, highlighting the country’s relative stability compared with some of its neighbours. He was speaking at the launch of After Me, Chaos: Astrology in the Mughal Empire, a book by former Minister of State for External Affairs M.J. Akbar.

“At present, India is the fourth-largest economy in the world. India is heading towards becoming the third biggest economy,” Singh said at the event. He added that a look at the situation in some South Asian countries underscores India’s stability.

Without elaborating, Singh referred to Pakistan’s current economic and political challenges. “Considering Pakistan’s current state, only the Almighty knows what the future holds for it. I don’t want to talk about the future,” he remarked.
