By A Staff Reporter: On the occasion of Basava Jayanti, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid rich tributes to the 12th-century philosopher and social reformer Jagadguru Basaveshwara. In a message shared on social media, Singh lauded Basaveshwara's ideals of equality, service, and moral leadership, emphasizing their continuing relevance in modern India.

"On Basava Jayanti, we remember the great saint-reformer Jagadguru Basaveshwara, whose ideals of equality, service and moral leadership continue to inspire generations," Singh said. "His vision of a just and inclusive society rooted in truth and action holds deep relevance even today."

Singh further stated that Basaveshwara's timeless teachings offer a guiding light for a society striving for unity, harmony, and righteous governance. His emphasis on Kayaka (dedicated work) and Dasoha (selfless service) formed the bedrock of a progressive and inclusive social order that transcended caste and class barriers.

Basava Jayanti is celebrated across Karnataka and other parts of India to honor Basaveshwara’s birth anniversary and to promote the values he championed. His contributions to literature, philosophy, and social reform through the Vachana movement have left an indelible mark on Indian society.
