Lucknow | Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday inaugurated a titanium and super alloy material plant in Lucknow, underlining the strategic importance of rare earth materials for India’s defence, aerospace, and high-tech industries.
“Rare earth materials are crucial for us. These are the same materials that are used in defence, space, electronics, and in medical equipment,” Singh said, emphasizing the critical role these resources play across sectors. He added that only a handful of countries currently have the capability to refine these materials and produce high-end components.
The minister stressed that India’s strength will grow once it achieves self-reliance in producing essential materials, components, chips, and alloys. “We will gain real power when we can produce the materials, components, chips, and alloys we need by ourselves,” he said.
Singh described the newly inaugurated plant as a milestone for India’s defence and aerospace industries. “This titanium and super alloy material plant will take India to the ranks of those select few countries that can produce their own critical defence and aerospace material,” he remarked.
