Delhi: Congress MP Rajiv Shukla on Friday hit back at Union Minister Kiren Rijiju for claiming that Rahul Gandhi’s stance on the Special Summary Revision (SIR) contributed to the Congress’s electoral setbacks. Shukla said the BJP was making baseless statements to divert attention from what he described as serious irregularities in the electoral process.

“The BJP can say anything,” Shukla remarked, rejecting Rijiju’s assertion that Congress leaders themselves blamed Rahul Gandhi. He pointed to the scale of the BJP’s recent victories as a sign of deeper issues. “It has never happened in any election that a party has contested on 100 seats and won 90 seats. So there is something wrong for sure,” he said.

Shukla alleged that the Election Commission was aiding the BJP, citing large-scale changes in the voter rolls. “The Election Commission is helping the BJP. Sixty-five lakh votes have been deleted, and twenty-five lakh votes have been added. Who are these people, and how are these things taking place?” he asked.

He added that the Congress has prepared a roadmap to address these discrepancies and prevent further lapses. “We have prepared a roadmap for the same… We will make every effort to avoid any mistakes,” Shukla said.
