Congress MP Rajeev Shukla took a swipe at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, criticizing his knowledge of Kashmir’s history. In a pointed remark, Shukla stated that Adityanath "doesn’t even know the ABCD of Kashmir," suggesting the Chief Minister is uninformed about the complexities of the region. Shukla argued that it was not Adityanath’s fault, but rather a reflection of his limited understanding of Kashmir.
The Congress leader went on to highlight the pivotal role played by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in saving Kashmir during a critical time in its history. He referenced the sacrifices made by numerous people to secure the region and criticized recent statements made by Adityanath, which, according to Shukla, displayed a lack of awareness about Kashmir’s past.
"People are laughing at his statements," Shukla said, asserting that Adityanath’s comments about Congress doing something against Kashmir were misguided. He emphasized that it was Congress that played a central role in ensuring the security and stability of Kashmir, contrary to what was being implied.
Shukla’s remarks come amidst ongoing political debates around Jammu and Kashmir, with both BJP and Congress leaders exchanging accusations regarding the region’s historical and current issues. His statements reflect the Congress party’s effort to assert its legacy in the region, particularly regarding Nehru’s leadership and the sacrifices made to maintain Kashmir as part of India.
