JAIPUR, JUNE 9 — Amid ongoing protests by members of the Gujjar community, who have been blocking railway tracks and highways in Rajasthan to press for job-related demands, state Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham has urged protesters to exercise restraint and avoid jeopardizing their future through unlawful actions.
Speaking on the situation, Bedham said, “As soon as I found out that some people stopped the track and chaos occurred, I sent those responsible to manage the arrangements immediately. I spoke to some people on the telephone. I asked IG Rahul Prakash to explain to them that the government is always positive towards people.”
The minister acknowledged the desperation among youth seeking employment but cautioned against extreme steps. “When you seek a job, you may feel desperate and block the railway track. Tomorrow, there will be lawsuits, and your future looks grim,” he warned.
According to Bedham, the intervention helped de-escalate the situation, leading to the track being cleared without further incident. “The matter came to the public's attention, and the track was promptly evacuated. I thank all the Panchs, the young friends, and the administration for their promptness,” he added.
